Flying alone is a real adventure for many children – and a matter of trust for parents. To ensure you can send your child on their journey with peace of mind, we provide a reliable and comprehensive assistance service from departure to arrival.

Accompaniment service for unaccompanied minors (UM)

The escort service is mandatory for children aged 5 to 14 years and must be registered in advance.
At the parents’ request, the service can also be provided up to the age of 16.
A maximum of 3 unaccompanied minors (UM) are permitted per flight.

Our staff will accompany your child reliably from check-in through boarding and up to handover to the designated pick-up person at the destination. Even in case of flight irregularities – such as delays or missed connections – we ensure that your child is well cared for and that you, as the contact person, are kept informed at all times.

 

How the escort service works (step by step)

1. Prepare travel documentsCheck the entry requirements for unaccompanied minors at the destination in advance. On the day of travel, have all required documents ready (e.g. passport, parental consent forms, visa if necessary).

2. Book the service
The escort service must be booked in advance (at least 48 hours before departure) by phone – ideally via our service center. You must specify who hands over the child at departure and who picks them up at the destination. The service is subject to a fee and charged per flight segment.

3. Complete escort details
We require:

• Names and contact details of the handover and pick-up person

• Flight details including any stopovers
  These details are stored in a lanyard pouch provided to the child at the airport.

4. Handover at the airport
Arrive with your child at check-in or, at certain airports (e.g. Vienna), directly at the special assistance counter. There you hand over your child and show a photo ID. If desired, you may accompany your child to the gate; otherwise, our ground staff will take over.

5. Assistance during the journey
Your child will be accompanied until departure and handed over to the crew. Care is provided during the flight as well. In case of delays or connecting flight issues, we ensure your child is supervised throughout and you, as the contact person, are kept informed.

6. Pick-up at the destination
At the arrival airport, your child will only be handed over to the designated pick-up person, who must also present a valid ID.

• Explain the travel process in advance – from check-in to arrival.

• Planning together reduces nervousness (seat choice, kids’ menu).

• Make sure your child is well-rested and relaxed before departure.

• A favorite stuffed animal or toy provides extra comfort.

• Ensure suitable clothing for different temperatures (departure, cabin, destination).

• Keep all required documents and IDs of the handover and pick-up person readily available.
